In some cases, instead of specifying the resistance of a component, its conductance is given. Conductance is denoted by $G$ and defined as the reciprocal of the resistance:
$$
G = \frac{1}{R}
$$
The unit of conductance is usually Siemens (S). However, the notations $\Omega^{-1}$ or mho (Ohm spelled backwards) are also in use. The choice of notation often depends on regional conventions.
Example: What is the conductance of a resistor with $22\,\text{k}\Omega$? Answer: $45.5\,\text{mS}$
