How History Develops

Each generation is born into circumstances it did not choose, yet through its actions it reshapes what it has inherited from the past.

The defining feature of history is constant change, every aspect of society is in a continuous process of transformation.

The 20th century especially illustrates this. Many things that once seemed impossible or purely utopian have become part of everyday life thanks to progress in science and technology, from the first flights of the Wright brothers to humanity’s landing on the Moon, and even the exploration of Mars, which is now a tangible reality. Innovations such as computers and genetic engineering further highlight how rapidly change can occur.

Social, economic, and cultural transformations are not acts of nature; they are the result of human decisions and creativity. People themselves drive history, they benefit from progress but also suffer its consequences.

In this sense, humans are the authors of their own story. They shape the social and historical conditions in which they live and work.

History, however, has no fixed or predetermined goal. Theories that view it as moving inevitably toward a final purpose cannot be proven scientifically.
