Common Phrases

The classic word for hello in Arabic is مرحبا. However, in modern Arabic هالو can be used as well.

The Arabic term for good morning is صباح الخير with the word صباح for morning and خير for good.

If you want to ask for the health of a person, you can use the term كيف حالك which means "How is your state?". You can also combine كيف with other nouns and names to ask for the condition of a certain person.

Together with the preposition ب, the term بخير is used to answer the question "How are you?" by saying "I am good".

For saying goodbye, a common phrase is مع السلامة. The word سلامة is another word for health. The whole phrase can therefore be tranlated as "with health"
