Now that you know personal pronouns, it's time to learn how verbs change (conjugate) depending on who is doing the action.

🔧 How Verb Conjugation Works

In German, verbs are conjugated depending on the subject (who is doing the action).

Let’s take the regular verb machen (to do / to make):

Pronoun	Verb form	Example
ich	mache	Ich mache Musik. (I make music.)
du	machst	Du machst Sport. (You do sports.)
er/sie/es	macht	Er macht Kaffee. (He makes coffee.)
wir	machen	Wir machen Hausaufgaben. (We do homework.)
ihr	macht	Ihr macht Musik. (You all make music.)
sie/Sie	machen	Sie machen Tee. (They/You (formal) make tea.)

🔤 Regular verbs follow this pattern:
Remove -en, then add the appropriate ending:
-e, -st, -t, -en, -t, -en

💬 Dialog

Lena und Tom sprechen über ihren Tag.
Lena: Hallo Tom! Was machst du heute?
Tom: Ich lerne Deutsch. Und du?
Lena: Ich schreibe E-Mails und lese ein Buch.
Tom: Siehst du auch fern?

🧠 Tips and Notes

Not all verbs are regular. Some, like lesen (to read) and sehen (to see), have vowel changes in some forms.
The du and er/sie/es forms often have different endings:

du -st, er/sie/es -t

Keep practicing with wir, ihr, and sie/Sie — they repeat a lot in conversations!
